Special Connections in Community
It’s interesting how businesses, people and organizations are tied together in communities. A community such as Brockville, Ontario, the home for W.C. Burgess Insurance for over 25 years and home of the Brockville Theatre Guild for over 75 Years. On Monday June 15th, 2015 The Brockville Theatre Guild held its Annual General Meeting. During the meeting the Guild announced recipients of awards for students who have been involved with the Guild and are continuing Post-Secondary Education. One of the Awards is the Marjorie Alexander Memorial Award honouring the late Marjorie Alexander who was a long standing member of the Theatre Guild, not only as an actor but actively participated/contributed to the Guild in a variety of ways. Marjorie was also a client of W.C. Burgess Insurance Services before 1995. As such, owner/manager Max Patterson felt strongly that W.C. Burgess should sponsor the award. Marjorie was also Max’s neighbor. The Brockville Theatre Guild was pleased to award the Marjorie Alexander Memorial Award to its very first recipient, Sarah MacDonald. Sarah will be attending Trent University and is registered for the Social Work program. And there’s another interesting connection here: Sarah and Marjorie have something in common. Sarah played the role of Emily Webb in the production of Our Town in 2012. Marjorie Alexander also played the same role over 60 years ago. And the two were able to share a dramatic reading of the same role at the Brockville Theatre Guild's Annual General Meeting in 2013!W.C. Burgess Insurance congratulates Sarah MacDonald and wishes her the best in her future academic career.
